I know the game and whatever crap says that Din was mostly likely the mother of the Goron race, (Goron's Ruby and all that) but I always saw Din more as a Gerudo than anything else. So here is Din, all Gerudo-doed up!

No wonder the horse never showes up. It's because time isn't a constant stream like many will argue.
Time in reality actually weaves and bends like silk and when you play the song the message may make it to Hyrule but you as the player should ask since you are not in Hyrule (but what reality of Hyrule am I sending the song to?)
Perhaps it's the reality where Epona doesn't exist or where something else happened to Epona and she is unable to respond to the song.
